California Dreaming Restuarant

November 29th, 2009 >> Cooking

Matt and I went to California Dreaming for dinner one night and it was delicious. If you click California Dreaming, it will take you to their website and you can see their menu.  I had the Knob Hill Chicken and the Firesteed Cayalla Syrah Oregon Red Wine.  This was such a great dinner!  If you go, I highly recommend this dish and the red wine.  Matt had the Rodney Strong California Cabernet Sauvignon Red Wine and steak, it was very satisfying.

My laptop / Windows 7

So for my birthday I was given an awesome 64 bit laptop that I love.  I have been using it pretty much everyday to work on homework for school and other daily uses.  It is much more comfortable to do my homework on the couch than a chair at a desk.  Today I received the upgrade CD for Windows 7.  I am really excited and can’t wait to use it once it is all uploaded.  So far it is pretty nice.

The Ugly Truth

November 23rd, 2009 >> Movie Mania

I watched The Ugly Truth this evening to relax before starting on my homework.  This was a comical movie with a lot of sarcastic sexual gestures.  I found it very entertaining and laughed through most of the movie.  I thought the movie was a great representation of how both men and women are portrayed.  The elevator scene was my favorite.

Disney’s Movie Up

November 19th, 2009 >> Movie Mania

So my sister bought me a membership to Netflix for my birthday and the first thing I requested was Disney’s movie Up.

The day after I received the movie, I went out and bought some balloons for that night to give an extra effect while watching the movie.  I was really excited about watching it and heard great things about it.  I was very slow and it did not keep my attention.  I watched the entire movie and the whole time I was thinking, “This is so slow, when is there going to be some action?”  There are some great morals and values taught in this movie and some parts were very realistic to life today.  I would not watch it again and not sure I would recommend it for others to watch.

Mmm! Mmm! Brownies

Mmm! Mmm! Brownies  These are delicious and very sweet.  They taste best if you heat them for a few seconds when you eat a piece.

  • Duncan Hines Brownie Mix
  • Duncan Hines Chocolate Icing
  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Peanut Butter Chips
  • 5 Tbl of butter

Follow the Duncan Hines Brownie Mix instructions.  After prepared, spray pam on a 9 x 13 baking pan and spread 1/2 of the mix in the bottom of the pan.  Empty the entire bag of white chocolate chips on the top of the mix in the baking pan.  Spread and completely cover the top.  Take a small pot and add the butter and peanut butter chips and set on low heat and mix until fully melted.  Constantly stir.  Pour over the white chocolate chips and lightly spread evenly over the top.  You are creating layers.  Finally, add the other 1/2 of the brownie mix on top of that.  Bake as according to the back of the Duncan Hines box.  Let brownies cool and then cover the top with the icing.  Warm each piece for 20 seconds in the microwave when eating.  It is sooooo good!!!

Gary Allan Concert was a BLAST!!!

I had a great time at the concert.  I have not seen Gary Allan perform live since fall 208.  I am used to seeing him 6 to 7 times a year.  Since moving to South Carolina, I have not had as many opportunities because he does not perform around here often.  I was almost center stage one person from the front.  I was great!  He sang in front of me 3/4 of the concert.  The concert was at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA.  That place is really cool.  I loved it and the acoustics were actually pretty good.  I thought that Gary put sounded better than he has in years.  He has gained some weight back and looks great and he was SOBER the whole concert!  He had one drink of Jack Daniels when he brought it on stage and one more at the end when he sang his whiskey drinking song.  I was very impressed.  He didn’t even forget any lines from his music this time!  I had a really wonderful time and can’t wait to do it again!  Below are a few pictures of the Tabernacle.

I am so excited!  I have not seen Gary Allan live in a year!  I have been deprived since I moved to South Carolina because he does not come to as many places around here as he does in Texas.  He is playing tonight in Atlanta, GA at the Tabernacle.  I can’t wait!  Pictures and more to come tomorrow.

Peruvian Grilled Chicken

November 10th, 2009 >> Cooking

So I was going through some magazine and saw this recipe and it looked really good and especially easy.  So I tore it out and fixed the recipe.  Needless to say it looked better than it tasted.  I actually did like it, but I thought it could use less cumin.  It was a little overbearing.  But you should try it.  You might like it.

Peruvian Grilled Chicken

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tbl fresh lime juice
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 Tbl olive oil
  • 3 chicken breasts

Mix the ingredients in a blender, except chicken.  Put the chicken in the bag with the mixed ingredients after blended.  Marinate for 30 minutes to 4 hours and cook in oven or on the grill.  I actually cooked my in an infrared cooker for 8 minutes on each side.  I also made some long grain rice to go with it and it was a great combo.  Enjoy.

Mamma Mia

November 8th, 2009 >> Movie Mania

So today during my day of writing essays for school, I decided to take a break and watch a movie.  Mamma Mia was on the DVR, so I said why not.  I am not a fan of musicals at all and this is not a typical movie I would watch, but I did.  I ended up fast forwarding through all the singing scenes, hence I do not like musicals.  I thought it was a cute movie about a mother who was just trying to protect her daughter.  I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was a movie not a musical.  I thought the part where one of her friends pretends to be Elvis the King was funny and to see Meryl Streep dressed up in some of those costumes was quite entertaining. Needless to say, it is deleted from my DVR.

Chinese Tiao He Cleanse

November 7th, 2009 >> Cooking

So I decided to do the Chinese Tiao He Cleanse from Nature’s Sunshine Products Inc.  It is not expensive at all and a 15 day supply box.  It has 30 packets that contain 6 pills each.  You take one packet 15 minutes before you eat twice daily.  While you take it you are only suppose to eat fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains (rice).  No red meat, coffee, alcohol, and sugary or fried foods and drink plenty of water.  Well, I only drink water (rarely anything else) and I don’t eat red meat that often, but I do eat SUGAR like CHOCOLATE!  This one has been hard for me.  I have been taking them for two days now and yes I have eaten a few of the M&Ms I got for my birthday out of temptation.  So far so good!  It is not as bad as I expected at all.
